We then enjoyed a reading of And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street by our Principal, Ron Viafore. Next our reading specialist, Lee Sohl, led the group in a recitation of The Reader’s Oath, a poem by Debra Angstead, which celebrates reading! |

This
was followed by 6th through 8th grade boys and girls reading Dr. Seuss
books to small groupings in each and every lower grade classroom. They
did a terrific job involving the younger children and making the readings
fun! |

Many KCS students and teachers prepared for the event by wearing Dr. Seuss colors, “Cat in the Hat” hats, or dressing as favorite Dr. Seuss characters. Prior to this day students learned about the life and contributions of Dr. Seuss and studied what makes his work unique. Second graders drew and wrote about a favorite Dr. Seuss character in computer class. Work is displayed in the front hallway leading to the cafeteria. Third grade Spanish students even listened to Huevos Verdes con Jamón, (Green Eggs and Ham). Mrs. Sohl and Miss Morrow, our new librarian, beautifully orchestrated this very special activity! |
