     Second Grade Celebrates Seuss

Second graders have become Dr. Seuss experts!
The children each read a Dr. Seuss book during library class with Miss Morrow and with their classroom teachers, Mrs. McBrien and Mrs. Starr. Next they wrote a paragraph in their writing journals about the main character of their book. During computer class, the children drew outlines of the main character and added details in color. Finally, the children word processed the paragraph about their book.

I read Oh The Places You’ll Go. The main character is Lemonall. Lemonall is the color of a lemon crayon. He travels because he finished high school.

I read Happy Birthday to You! by Dr. Seuss. The main character is Birthday Bird. Birthday Bird looks funny when he dances.

I read And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street. The main character is the boy who rushed home.
I read the The Lorax. The main character is the Lorax who spoke for the trees. He was shortish, oldish, brownish, and mossy.

I read Oh Say Can You Say? The main character of this book is the green bird. The green bird is trying to read these tongue twisters.
I read Hunches of Bunches. The main character is Bud. It is funny when Bud follows the hunches in the circle.

I read The Cat in the Hat. The main character is the cat in the hat. It is strange to see a cat skiing!
I read The Cat in the Hat. He looked happy with his sister.

I read One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish. The main character is the girl. I chose the girl because she looks happy combing her pet’s hair.
