The
Thanksgiving Sharing was originally scheduled for the day before Thanksgiving,
but due to a snow day it was moved to after the holiday weekend. The assembly began with everyone bringing their overflowing boxes to the gym. Then, each paired group presented their short program to parents, visitors, and community members. |
||||||||||
| The first task each group had to accomplish was to decorate a large box that would be used to collect specific kinds of items. The categories included pasta, cereals, paper products, canned fruits, canned vegetables and first aid items. | |||||||||||

In preparation for this activity, each
class in the school was paired with another class. One class even worked
with several staff members. |

Next,
each group had to create a short program that focused on Thanksgiving and
sharing with others. Some groups read poems, using props to make them livelier, while others shared their program through a power point presentation. |
||||||||||
| Another
group dressed in costume and sang a song, and one even had the children
spilling out of a cornucopia before they read their poem. |

| The
Thanksgiving Sharing closed with Mr. Viafore presenting the boxes of contributions
to First Selectman Dolores Schiesel who represented the Kent Food Bank. |
