     3rd / Kdg Practice Measuring

The third grade students of Mrs. Makarewich's math class traveled to Mrs. Vega's kindergarten class for some help with measuring.

The third graders were practicing how to measure in inches and for a homework assignment they each measured an adult's height and their arm span (the length from finger tip to finger tip of arms that are outstretched). Upon comparing the two measurements, the third graders discovered that most of the numbers were only about 3 to 4 inches apart from each other. It was then decided to test out this newfound knowledge by measuring the kindergarten students in Mrs. Vega's class.

Each third grader, including Mrs. Makarewich, was paired with a kindergarten student. They then measured the height and arm span of their partner. Everyone gathered together afterwards and talked about the measurements they took.

Amazingly, these numbers were also within 3 to 4 inches of each other and some were even exactly the same!

Everyone had a great time measuring each other and learning this new math concept.
