Mr. Herrick reported that the overall 2008-2009 proposed budget has been further reduced to 5.37%. A budget workshop will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 4:00 p.m. in the HVRHS Library.

Mr. Manning reported that the ABC Committee recommended to the Region One Board the formation of a Transportation Collaborative and a renewed contract for Superintendent Chamberlain.

Mr. Hart reported that the Long Range Planning Committee will meet on Wednesday, March 12th and Monday, March 24th before making presentations to individual towns.

Mr. Gaisford reported on the success of  professional development day workshops for all teachers in Region One and on the scheduled plans for finalizing summer curriculum work. The CMT and CAPT have begun.

Mr. Herrick reported on a meeting that was held with representatives from Solar Design, Inc. They are interested in working with HVRHS, Salisbury Central, and Kent Center to utilize solar panels on these schools’ roofs, not only, to save energy costs, but, as a possible practical learning experience for the students.

Mr. Herrick sent a letter to all members of the local towns’ boards of finance and boards of selectman outlining the rationale for the creation of a “Capital Reserve Fund”.

Dr. Foster submitted a modified process for new course proposals. She also reported that the new music teacher will initiate the process  for music students to become members of  Tri M National Honor Society. She announced that a Student Resource Officer from Troop B in Canaan will be serving on a part-time basis at the high school.

The Board unanimously approved appointments for Spring coaches,  Mike Lazzaro’s (JV Baseball) Jim Belter  (Varsity Girls’ Tennis), Cindy Dunleavy (Track), John Foster  Boys’ (Lacrosse), David Linsday  (Head, Track), John McGuire (Golf).

The Board, also, unanimously approved the field trips, for the Robotics Team to travel to Atlanta, Ga., April 16 through April 20, and for students to attend the student leadership conference at Wesleyan University, Middletown, CT
