Region One Board of Education
February 2008 High School Report to KCS Board

February 4, 2008

Long Range Planning Committee had it’s first meeting with education consultant, John Costa.  He presented an overview of future trends and their implications. To build understanding among constituents and all 7 boards he will present the same overview to each town within the next month.

Business Manager, Sam Herrick recommends, given the volatility of the special education out of district placements and legal outcomes, Region 1 would  benefit in it’s financial flexibility  and decision making by having a capital reserve fund, possibly, with the unexpended fund balance returned to member towns each year.

Principal, Dr. Foster  presented NEASC recommendations follow up committee minutes along with a NEASC Planning and Priorities Chart. She and Assistant Superintendent, Tom Gaisford are working closely with teachers in Professional Development, collaboration, curriculum, assessment, focusing on instructional strategies to engage students.

Respectfully submitted,

Stephanie O’Rourke
