Dear Parents,

To help promote a summer filled with fitness, I have developed calendars with suggested activities for each day of summer vacation.  If you would like to participate in this summer fitness challenge, you can download the calendars from the links below.

You will find calendars for both primary and secondary aged students.  The primary calendars are suggested for grades K-2 while the secondary calendars are suggested for 5-8.  Intermediate students in grades 3 and 4 should print both calendars and select the activity of their choosing.

To reward students for their time exercising over the summer, there will be incentives awarded at the beginning of the new school year.  In order to earn a prize, your child needs to return their calendar to me by September 11, 2009.  Students will need to have exercised at least 50 days of the summer.  As parents, please write your initials on each day that your child completed an activity.  For secondary students to earn their prize, they must complete all 3 of the fitness checkpoints.  To show evidence of the fitness checkpoints, students should record their results on the back of the calendar.

I understand that summer is a very busy time and students are participating in a variety of fitness activities that may include swimming lessons, camps, or athletic contests.  On the day that your child completes an alternative fitness activity, record it on the calendar, sign your initials and it will count toward their 50 days of summer exercise.

If you have any questions or concerns over the summer, please feel free to contact me by email at perottim@kentcenter.com.

Have a happy and healthy summer!

Thank you,

Marci Perotti
