On Wednesday, March 11, 2009, all fourth grade students in Region One went to the Hotchkiss School to participate in an entire day of the arts. The day’s purpose was to enlighten students and heighten awareness about the importance of the arts in education and in our lives.
Students attended three showcase performances, Locomotion, A Character Workshop with Leslie Carrara-Rudolph, and New England Percussion.

Students participated in two workshops during the day in
Dance
“Really good dance moves.”
“Making your own dance was cool.”
Music
“The teachers and moms even danced and sang.”
Visual Arts
“We could do anything and it was our own art.”
“It was great learning about something new.”
Drama
“The black box was the best. A fun, exciting, awesome teacher.”
Students and teachers had numerous opportunities to be creative, and to work cooperatively with students from other schools.
