Mrs. Makarewich’s third grade science students are currently learning about the adaptations that plants, creatures and people make to survive in the tropical rain forest. To further explore this amazing and diverse biome, the children created dioramas that highlighted the forest floor, understory, canopy, and/or
the emergent layer.
During class, the students worked in pairs and challenged each other to find all the plants, animals, birds, butterflies, reptiles and insects that they had tucked into their settings.
This project was a wonderful way for the children to extend their learning. Please come and see their creations; they are currently on display in the school library.
