As part of our Everyday Math program, the kindergartners in Mrs. Vega’s and Mrs. Robey’s classes planned and hosted a Math party on January 8th for Kent Center School staff members and 7th grade French students.  The kindergartners made guest lists, wrote and sent invitations, planned and prepared food, and cut, painted, stamped, and glued decorations for their classrooms.  Important skills such as measuring, counting, patterning, and sorting were practiced in food preparation and room decorating.  We all had a great time!  Math is everywhere, and so much fun!

The students traced and cut out shapes to make mobiles.

The students put fruit into different patterns to make fruit kabobs.

We’re ready
for the party!

Our guests enjoyed the snacks we made – patterned fruit kabobs, ants on a log, and marshmallow fluff sandwiches cut into shapes.

We played some fun Math games with our friends!

We read Math stories.

We colored Math papers with our guests.

Math is so much fun!
