READ POSTERS!

READ! READ! READ! Up and down the halls of Kent Center School, 334 colorful posters with photographs of students and staff members holding their favorite book proclaim READ.

In preparation for celebrating “Read Across America Day” on March 2, during computer classes eighth grade students spent two months learning and applying their knowledge of PhotoShop Elements, a photo-editing program, in order to create the posters. Digital photos were taken of every student, teacher and staff member in the school holding their favorite book. Then the 8th graders used their laptops to transform the digital photos into spectacular READ posters!

Volunteers hung all 334 posters after school on Wednesday for the school-wide celebration on Thursday, March 2.

As children, parents and staff arrived at school on Thursday morning, they were greeted by the remarkable posters all over the school. With great excitement, everyone traveled through the hallways, looking at the colorful posters and reading the titles of favorite books. Grades 1-3 enjoyed the beautiful posters so much that they surprised the 8th graders will a round of applause during the 8th graders’ lunch period to thank them for their wonderful work.

Thank you, Eighth Graders,
for adding to our celebration
of READING!!
