     KCS Students in Stitches

On Fridays, in addition to carrying books and laptop computers, some KCS students carried bags of yarn and knitting needles to a weekly club meeting. Organized by two seventh grade girls and
Mrs. MacLeod, the knitting and crocheting club started this year for 7th and 8th graders.

Among the students who attended were beginner, intermediate and advanced knitters and crocheters. All shared their work, helped each other and learned new techniques. Advanced students inspired participants with new yarn, complex stitches and beautiful projects.

Several students started friendship scarves, knitting 10 rows before passing the work onto the next knitter. Each person changed yarn before knitting 10 more rows. Here are several examples.

Three club members recently displayed a variety of projects at the KCS Art Show. These independent art projects included a self-designed pink crocheted sweater, four colorful knit scarves, and a photo display of knitting in progress.

Students look forward to continuing the knitting and crocheting club during the next school year.
