Students in grades one through eight were invited to take part in the KCS Inventors’ Fair again this year. There were eight participants - three in second grade and one each in first grade, third grade, fourth grade, sixth grade and eighth grade. All but two of the students had created inventions in the past and were very comfortable with the process. Three of the inventors were chosen to go to the CT State Invention Convention this spring. |
Each inventor received invention activity pages over a two-month time period. Students completed and returned the pages to Mrs. Sohl, the KCS Connecticut Invention Convention sponsoring teacher. She responded with comments, questions, and suggestions to help the inventors keep pace in the process from idea to actual invention. |

The students who created a working invention to be on view at KCS’s Inventors’ Fair on Tuesday, March 29th, received extra credit in science for the third marking period. CT Invention Convention rules state that parents can ONLY support their child by helping him or her gather materials, helping with specific tools, explaining concepts (such as wiring or circuits), and transporting the child to locate materials. |
Not only did the inventors do an excellent job building their models, they also explained their inventions clearly, to students and judges alike! |
