3rd Grade Visit Kent's Swift House

The third grade students have been studying Native Americans in Mrs. Menniti’s Social Studies class.

The students visited the Swift House in March. Mrs. McAvoy of the Kent Historical Society gave a presentation about the Native Americans from our area.

Students listened intently to the presentation.

Mrs. McAvoy had a variety of artifacts for the children to view and touch.

She also showed the students baskets woven by the women of the tribe.

Canoes were carved by the men.
Ms. Anderson, a long-time Kent resident, shared some of her experiences about growing up in Kent.

Students enjoyed looking at the artifacts…

and asking Mrs. McAvoy questions.

The students, teachers, and chaperones had a wonderful time visiting and learning about the local tribes.
