8th Grade Study Skills Plus Scarecrows

When Mr. Viafore was looking for a group to create a scarecrow for the Kent Chamber of Commerce scarecrow contest, the 8th grade Study Skills Plus class was up for the challenge. After brainstorming some ideas, the students broke into three groups to construct the scarecrows of their choice.

Another group wanted to go with a traditional, scary Halloween theme.

One group chose a funny scarecrow. Their design was modeled after the famous Geico Gecko, of television fame.

The third group decided on a patriotic theme. “Patriotic Man” was the successful result. He won second prize in the town contest, too!

Mrs. Sohl, the Study Skills Plus teacher, was very pleased with the hard work and creativity the students put into their scarecrows. The class is hoping to place one or two of them in the garden they’re planning to establish at KCS.
