“

     The "Heart Dog" of KCS

   

 
                           

ArtDogs of Kent is a project that will raise money for the Little Guild of St. Francis for the Welfare of Animals, Kent Kats and the Kent Chamber of Commerce. KCS was invited to be “one” of the 60 artists involved. Reading teacher, Lee Sohl, and art teacher, Al Coffill, served as advisors to the students, who were the true artists.

Mrs. Sohl and Mr. Coffill wanted total school involvement for our ArtDog. The students at Kent Center School love animals and their concern for homeless pets shows through the “valentines” they made to decorate the ArtDog. The final result is a symbol of love and hope and optimism for animals. All 315 students helped make our ArtDog what he is today. The student artists range in age from three years old to almost fifteen years old. Many of the KCS staff also created hearts for the ArtDog, making him a true school-wide project.

Well, I’m on my way to Kent Center School,
wherever that is!

          

I had to have a bath right away
- and I wasn’t even dirty!
               
                             
                 
 

Every student in the school made a heart for me. Some 8th graders attached them to me with special glue called “Mod Podge.” I was
very patient.

          
                         
   

Dr. Seuss’s 100 th birthday celebration, and here I am, reading all by myself.
 

Hey, I’m starting to look pretty

Since I spent so much time in Mrs. Sohl’s room (she’s the reading teacher), I decided to read some of her dog books.

        
                           
                                                         
                           
     

I love it here at KCS! I wish it could be my new home. My red heart-shaped tag says “Kent Center School 2004.”
