      Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge 2004

During the summer of 2004, students at Kent Center School participated in the Governor’s Summer Reading Challenge. The children kept track of the books they read during vacation and gave Miss Morrow their lists when school started in September. Miss Morrow tallied the results and reported that Kent Center students read 3,565 books during summer vacation.

The PTO was very proud of our great readers. They awarded Scholastic Book Fair gift certificates to the following:

The “Lower Grade Homeroom with the Best Participation” award went to Mrs. Makarewich’s 3rd grade class with 100% participation.

The “Upper Grade Homeroom with the Best Participation” award went to Mrs. Mechare’s 6th grade class with 75% participation.

The randomly selected “Teacher Reader” award went to Mrs. Viafore.
